The home show season kicked off last weekend with the Columbus Build, Remodel and Landscape Expo. We will participate in the Home Improvement Show at the Columbus Veterans’ Memorial, February 17th through 19th. The weekend after that kicks of the HUGE Central Ohio Home & Garden Show, February 25th through March 4th.
We’ve just seperated our company into two entities, and created Dream Baths to focus on those unique techniques and trends of bathroom design & remodeling. At the Home & Garden Show we will formally introduce Dream Baths to Columbus with an incredible high-end bath display, complete with the Numi toilet/bidet by Kohler (video link for Numi), a shower with curved glass enclosure, and a Miele coffee cart.
As always, Kitchen Kraft gives away a brand new stainless steel dishwasher at each show. Those guests who stop by our booth and fill out a registration card will be entered into that show’s giveaway.
We are gearing up to offer our popular Free Granite Show Special. With a successful year coming to a close, we decided to ring in the new year with a beautiful renovation to the client consultation room at the rear of our showroom. It’s going to be a functioning “Smart Kitchen” with all the bells and whistles. There will be a touch screen remote to manage it all, but one could also use their smart phone and internet as well. This remote will manage the electronic entry door locks, electronic blinds, thermostats, lighting, surveylance equipment, mechanized cabinet doors, huge flat screen television, and surround sound system.
Here are some photos of the room toward the beginning of construction.
We walled in two windows and a coat closet, and replaced the door with a 9-panel one. The hardwood was replaced with ceramic tile that looks like hardwood. When I show you the finished project, you will see what I mean.
The ceiling was ripped out, and replaced with the decorative features of a coffered ceiling with beams and heavy moldings.
We put in new enery-efficient LED lighting throughout the room.
We also added decorative moldings around the entryway leading to the room from our main showroom.
The project is now just about finished. The crown moldings are being added to the cabinets at the ceiling, and other small finishing touches are going on. Once we’ve had it painted, I’ll post with “after photos”. Even unfinished, it’s a totally WOW space. Simply gorgeous!

A granite countertop trend that we’ve noticed at Kitchen Kraft, is using a beautiful leather finish rather than a polished one. This finish adds texture to the (honed) surface, and brings an understated elegance to your home. The leather process closes the pores (compared to honing) and retains the color better than honing. While a leathered finish has a sheen to it, it is nowhere near as reflective as a polished surface. You won’t see water spots or smudges at all with this finish. A good analogy would be that a leathered finish is like a matte finish on a photograph whereas a polished surface is like a glossy photograph. Leathering is preferred to honing for blacks and other very dark materials. For example the amount of texture on Absolute Black is minimal and very fine-grained, and the finish is much more uniform than honing Absolute Black. The photo below is of a leathered Ubatuba granite.
